This could be a Temporary Skill Shortage (TSS) visa (subclass 482), an Employer Nomination Scheme (ENS) visa (subclass 186), or some other type of visa that fits the situation.
  • Experience and Skills: Some employers may want you to have a certain amount of driving experience, especially if you want to be a heavy vehicle driver or get a certain endorsement, like a dangerous goods endorsement. You might also need to know how to drive safely, find your way around, and keep your car in good shape.
  • Language Skills: Most of the time, you need to be able to speak clearly in English with coworkers, customers, and authorities. This depends on the job and visa. You might need to show that you can speak and write English well by taking tests like IELTS or getting a certain number on the English language proficiency test.
  • Medical Clearance: Some driving jobs may require you to get a medical check to make sure you’re healthy enough to drive safely.
  • Clean Driving Record: Usually, you need to have a clean driving record, which means you haven’t been convicted of any major traffic offenses or crimes related to driving.
  • Sponsorship from an Employer: You’ll need an Australian employer who is ready to help you get a visa. This means they have to show proof that they need a skilled driver and get permission from the Australian government to be a sponsor.
  • Compliance with Visa Conditions: Once you’ve been sponsored, you’ll have to follow the rules of your visa, which may include limits on the type of work you can do, the length of your stay, and your health insurance requirements.
